Dancer
Moonsun Yoon was born in 1995 in Seoul, South Korea. After her dance training at the local Yewon Arts School, she transferred to Munich’s Ballet Academy in 2011, where she graduated. She won the silver medal at the International Ballet Competition in Sapporo, Japan.
Where are you from?
I’m from in Seoul, South Korea. My hometown is the capital of Korea and a city that is successful in the development of the electronics.
When did you start to train ballet and what was your motivation?
I started to train ballet probably at age of 12 years. After 2 years I joined a professional school of arts.
What has been the most special moment of your dance career so far?
The most special moment for me was when I first came to Munich. I still remember meeting new teachers, making new friends and learning new dance styles. It was very stimulating and exciting for me.
How would you describe yourself?
I can say about me that I am charming, kind, friendly and sometimes quiet.
What were your first experiences in Dortmund?
My first experience in Dortmund was with my family. We took a car from Munich (where I was studying), and they helped me move all my furniture and belongings to my new apartment.
What dreams do you have?
Dancer or choreographer – I would love to once dance MacMilan’s Romeo and Juliet or Jiri Kilian’s Gods and Dogs.
What are your interests besides dancing?
In my free time I really enjoy listening to music and watching movies. I also like playing with make up when I get a chance – applying it to myself or even my friends. If I weren’t a dancer, I would like to try to be an actress on the big screen.
