Lucia das Gracas Lopes Barbosa

Lucia das Gracas Lopes Barbosa was born in 1998 as the youngest of 12 siblings in São Paulo, Brasil. After studying dance at the local Escola Paulista de Dança, she completed her studies with Gisele Santoro at Estúdio de Dança Adriana Soares. When she was only 15 years old, she traveled to New York City to take part at the Young American Grand Prix. She won the first place at Seminário Internacional de Dança de Brasilia and won the silver medal at Festival de Dança de Joinville.

 

Where are you from?
I am from Brazil, my home town is São Paulo.

When did you start to train ballet and what was your motivation?
I started when I was 8 years old, my motivation was my cousin as she did ballet and always called me to do so, too. When I started I just loved it.

What has been the most special moment of your dance career so far?
It was when I danced Swan Lake in Brazil. I danced the pas de trois, waltz and the swan; it was magical.

How would you describe yourself?
I’d describe myself as a funny, hardworking and friendly person. I want to always work with dance.

What were your first experiences in Dortmund?
It has been an amazing experience, I chose to come to Germany because I thought that here, both my professional and personal life could grow.

What dreams do you have?
My dream is to be a successful dancer and make people feel good with my dance. I would like to dance Flames of Paris.

What are your interests besides dancing?
I am interested in making new friends and if I weren’t a dancer, I would like to be a chef de cuisine.
