Lecturer in Dramaturgy

Christian Baier, born in Vienna, is a music theater dramaturge and writer. After his occupation as chief editor of “Österreichische Musikzeitschrift” (Austrian Music Magazine), he became chief dramaturge of Wiener Festwochen, Wuppertaler Bühnen, and Theater Dortmund. He was also production manager at Deutsche Oper Berlin.

He worked as a guest dramaturge in numerous houses, for instance at Semper Opera Dresden, Theater an der Wien, Theater Linz, Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen and Hong Kong Ballet. He has been working with Xin Peng Wang since 2006: as chief dramaturge of Ballet Dortmund (since 2011), and artistic director of the international Gluck Opern Festspiele (since 2013).
