Alice

Ballet by Mauro Bigonzetti

after Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Music by ASSURD

Italian star choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti, long-time director of the game-changing Atterballetto, is an exceptional artist in the ballet world. In his works, the dancers break new ground with virtually every step, each motion opening doors for the public to ever more fantastic spaces of the art of movement.

It was only a question of time until Bigonzetti would tackle the furious world of Lewis Carroll’s enigmatic classic. And he did it! The premiere of his creation, one of Mauro Bigonzetti’s most daring and yet most stringent to date, was presented at Theaterhaus Stuttgart by the Gauthier Dance Company in 2014.

“The hallucinatory atmosphere captivates me, the play with endless possibilities”, confesses the artist for whom dreams always walk the thin line between exaggerated and mad realities.

Fantastic, startling and hypnotically beautiful, surprising and overpowering, there is hardly any other way to describe the fulminantly exuberant lunacy wherewith Bigonzetti sends his female protagonist through the other world behind the looking-glass along with the white rabbit, into a sphere where the laws of reason are turned upside down.

I am proud to be given an opportunity to present this unique creation to you with our company.” (Xin Peng Wang)
